Greek Welfare Centre
The Greek Welfare Centre has been servicing the needs of the Greek community and the local community for the past 40 years.
It works locally to respond to a range of individual, family and community based issues and opportunities.
It is self-funded and plays a critical role in the development and sustainability of a healthy community.
The Greek Welfare Centre administers:

Information, referral and counselling

The Emergency Relief Program – support through financial and material assistance for adults experiencing personal, family, relationship and/or financial issues.
Other services include:

Community Visitors Program (Volunteer based): The Community Visitors program works with Greek speaking residents in aged care facilities who may be isolated due to having little contact with their family or friends or due to cultural and language barriers.

Home Delivered Meals (Volunteer based): Home delivered Greek hot meals to vulnerable persons in the local community – 5 days per week

MAZI meaning “together” Project: The MAZI Project aims to support family carers and older persons with dementia from all cultures and the general community with carer support groups

Queensland Community Support Scheme (QCSS)
GOC Care as a member of the CALD Network consortium providing supports to CALD (Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Background) communities through the Queensland Community Support Scheme (QCSS)
The QCSS provides supports to persons in their home such as

Domestic assistance, meal preparation, household chores

Personal care, showering, dressing

Support to access the community, including shopping, going to the bank or the doctor, recreational activities

Basic home maintenance
Eligibility: Under 65 years old with a disability (and are not eligible for the National Disability Insurance Scheme – NDIS), chronic illness, mental health or other condition or circumstances that impact their ability to live independently in the community.
GOC Care through the (QCSS) provides support to people who, with a small amount of assistance, can maintain or regain their independence, continue living safely in their homes, and actively participate in their communities.

60’s & Better
We also provide older people, their family and friends, and carers with access to information and referral to services on topics such as financial and legal matters, social activities, household assistance, retirement accommodation, health, education and transport.
The 60’s & Better Program focuses on increasing older people’s awareness of healthy options, reducing social isolation and improving links with other agencies and their community.
You are welcome to visit our Case Managers and/or attend our social group every Thursday.
