Greek Welfare Centre
The Greek Welfare Centre has been servicing the needs of the Greek community and the local community for the past 40 years.
It works locally to respond to a range of individual, family and community based issues and opportunities.
It is self-funded and plays a critical role in the development and sustainability of a healthy community.
The Greek Welfare Centre administers:
- Information, referral and counselling
- The Emergency Relief Program – support through financial and material assistance for adults experiencing personal, family, relationship and/or financial issues.
Other services include:
- Community Visitors Program (Volunteer based): The Community Visitors program works with Greek speaking residents in aged care facilities who may be isolated due to having little contact with their family or friends or due to cultural and language barriers.
- Home Delivered Meals (Volunteer based): Home delivered Greek hot meals to vulnerable persons in the local community – 5 days per week
- MAZI meaning “together” Project: The MAZI Project aims to support family carers and older persons with dementia from all cultures and the general community with carer support groups
- Community Education and Development
