On Tuesday , 3rd September GOC Care presented an excellent information session on the Neurological and Psychological Facts about Dementia at our Wellness Centre in Bundall on the Gold Coast, during the St Anna’s Seniors Group meeting. The over 55 seniors and their family carers who attended the talk were very impressed with the quality of the speaker, Dr Nicole Walker (UQ Research Fellow and Psychologist) and her ability to explain a very scientific and challenging topic in plain , easy to understand language. Greek interpreter, Eleni Samios was also applauded for her ability to translate the talk in Greek in such a way that enhanced the listener’s understanding and appreciation of the subject matter. Dr Walker is currently involved in research at the University of Queensland investigating ways to support older people living with dementia and their care partners adjust to life without driving. People interested in contributing to this research project who are over 65+ yrs or may be thinking about stopping driving or have stopped driving please contact : Dr Theresa Scott E: theresa.scott@uq.edu.au or Donna Rooney E: donna.rooney@uq.edu.au or Ph: 07 3365 6392 / 07 3443 2546
